Soviet Girl

A song that dates back many years and many arrangements.

Sometimes it takes a long time to make a song. This is a good example - I started playing 'Soviet Girl' when I joined this band about nine years ago as it was already part of their set. It took us about five years to shake it up into something completely different, a sort of woozy, harmonic-driven neo-psychedelic jam. Hope you enjoy it.

There's more music on our Soundcloud, including a live version of this one, back when the arrangement had just about coalesced.

Sounds great, I would not question if I heard this in a playlist of essential 90s shoegaze and britpop. Lovely. Share the lyrics?

My thoughts echo Corduroys: I would not flinch if this was nestled among songs by the Chills, Felt, the Feelies, Cocteau Twins, Lush, Pixies... like the mid-80's pre-cursors to shoegaze.

Thank you both! Lyrics below

I want a summer girl
I want an autumn girl as well

You can't have just what you want
Be grateful for what you've got I know
If everyone had just what they want
There wouldn't be enough to go round

One for the falling star
One for the sunshine on the road
One for the cigarette
One for the whiskey burning gold

You can't have just what you want...etc

There goes my summer girl
There goes my autumn girl as well

Just realised those are early versions of the lyrics... they're condensed even further now

This rules. I too agree with Corduroy - I am all about that main groove with the harmonics. So ace.

It's a summer song.
