It Gets Me Out Of My Head

Short, generative downtempo instrumental piece.

I've been listening to a lot of Chelsea Wolfe and Emma Ruth Rundel, so this is pretty dark. Kind of trip-hop vibe with the slowed down Amen Break.
The main progression is Em, B7sus4, Asus4, B7sus4, Dsus4.
There's an arpeggio playing chord notes and a meandering melody line random walking up and down a D Dorian scale.

This fits in the #ChChChanges tag because it's:

- Something using weird chord changes you wouldn't normally involve yourself with

Playing the E Dorian (not D Dorian as I said in the post) over the progression is not something I'd usually do, but the generative approach to music making makes it trivial to experiment with things like these.

- A change from your usual instrument of choice

Made in SonicPi, a ruby IDE for making music and modifying it on the fly. Just my 3rd piece on it.

Ridiculously atmospheric, but not in background way, really feels like it gradually develops. I liked it!

For some reason hearing everything as soundtrack music today. This sounds for me like it plays in a dark anime as it pans across a dystopian cityscape :) really evocative

Something generative shouldn't be this pleasant to listen to. Didn't expect to dig it, and yet here I am, digging it ...
