Rumor of Robot in Town

I was going for a YMO or SNES JRPG feel. (It's good to see people still making song in earnest here, BTW.)

I'm attempting one of these song-a-week efforts, and this is song #2. At a loss for riffs to use for accompaniment, I improvised some of it.

Don't really have the language to critique, sorry. I seriously love the clattery-noisiness of it and doubly-so that you've done that while still being very musical. The tempo change caught me out but definitely works. Slightly wish you hadn't mentioned SNES JRPGs just because I wonder if I would have been put favourably in mind of Gato from Chrono Trigger regardless (tbh, I prob still would have). Great stuff!

Thanks for listening! The tempo changes got reworked five or six times, so I'm glad that they landed with someone.

I dig this a lot. I can totally picture this in a game. I like the way that the harmony is janky and never quite resolves.

Yeah this is really harmonically disorienting in a fun way. I definitely think you nailed the SNES JRPG feel too!

I think that comes from the improvising — I don't have great on-the-fly harmonic calculating, so that stuff ends up a bit random and very different than if I had composed note-by-note. I guess that's a nice thing about being forced to get done in a week. I probably would not have done any improvising otherwise. Glad you folks liked it!
