Space Pirates

Someday in the future, we'll be space pirates together.

I've been working with a DAWless setup for a couple years now. This is the second version of this song I've assembled on my current setup and the fourth in total (version one). It probably won't be the last.

Thank you! I wish we still had that basement -- the small house was a rental and the owner decided to sell it for far more than we could afford. The video is pre-DAWless setup, so I'm pretty sure it's a MacBook playing the backing music in Reaper. The original backing tracks were put together in FamiTracker. At the time, I was trying to assemble a solo streaming show, but I didn't get very far (two songs in a row is as far as I got, and this was mainly to test how I would transition from the first one into Space Pirates).

... you know, ignignokt, I think I misread your question as asking about the live recording. The electronic instruments in this one are a Volca Drum, a Volca Sample, and a DDD-1. A bit Korg-ly. I don't remember what I used to vocode the harmony -- either the Monotribe (more Korg) or an old, cheap, and tiny Casio PT-1 keyboard.

Aw man, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your place and your studio!

That is a cool little automated band that you have in your Korg boxes, though! I'll have to try one of them out someday.
