Floating

November 21, 2008 9:02 PM

An atmospheric interlude that briefly teases a song, written for my unborn son. I tried to convey a feeling of floating around in an amniotic sac with brief moments of activity that go away as quickly as they appear.

Lyrics: (for the sake of completeness)

Spending hours floating all around
Endless days floating upside down
I reach out from afar
Touching, listening to the sound of your heart

Spending hours floating all around
Endless days floating upside down

Somehow this brought about a very gauzy mouthfeel!. Well done! (If not perfect for the prebirth, it is at least a perfect anthem for the wisdom tooth removal that will come way too soon)

This is wonderful. Your voice makes me think of Sufjan Stevens. Are all these instruments you, or is some of it from a program? If so, where can I get that great horn?

Thanks! Oddly enough, I've been dealing with some killer jaw pain while putting it together over the last few days. The dentist said it's from stress, but maybe you're on to something...

If you've got Reason 4, the horn sounding patch you're looking for is "Ambient Werks". Everything was done there except for the vocals, which were recorded in Sonar.

Ya, I hear the Sufjan a bit, too. Nice.
Enjoy the quiet while (and sleep) while you have it. And then enjoy the craziness, it's awesome.
Congratulations.

If prebirth is a genre, I'd have to say that your composition measures up beautifully against the competition.
This is really nice. I think it captures the notion of floating quite nicely.
