Too Blue

"This was an improvisation, actually the second take (Blue 2, or "Too Blue"), during which I had the memory of the Monterey Jazz festival firmly planted in my head, remembering the incredible musicians and music I heard all over the fairgrounds, playing jazz, soul, and lots 'n lots of blues…" ~ Laurie Z.

This is really good playing, I just got a piano in my room and listening to this makes me wanna learn to play songs other than "Heart and Soul"

I wish I was this good at improvising "notes." I can really only do textures and ideas. This was really beautiful--thanks for sharing it.

I could jam to that. I like your playing. I usually play with B-players. Except for once in a while, where I actually communicate with my band mates, through music. I could hear my replies. I like your style.

Very "Early Billy Joel", and that's a good thing.

Oooohhhh that melody just cries out for a vocal!!! I sat and listened and really loved the plangent nature of this but felt SO frustrated....... I might download this and have a go myself - clearly only with your permission. I hope this doesn't sound arrogant, but I could really do something with this - it really sparked something in me. I wish we all could find a way on MiFi to collaborate - some of it would be shit, but by the law of averages we will occasionally hit paydirt. Check out my uploads "White Feather" and "Blind" (on the recent podcast) - my other upload stuff is just filler (i.e. ignore it) until my next "serious" track provisionally titled "Medicine Man" ready for release.
