canon

...or the same eight chords...

this started out as a vague attempt to do something with pachelbel's canon in d major. anything to avoid hoovering. as ever it ended up somewhere else. after the usual hours of fiddling about with reverbs etc i decided that i'd finish it before midnight otherwise it was going in the bin. was hoping to end up withr something like this, so it was a failure on that front. most sounds made by double bass (mangled about with) and a few dabs of software synth.

Ah, discrete music; one of my favorite albums, featuring a fantastic destruction of one of my most hated pieces. I think Eno would be happy with this, as should you be. I'd place this up with his variations. It's really beautifully passive in its expression, in all the right ways. Very nicely done, peter, as ever.

thankyou! funnily enough i heard eno's variations before i ever heard the original. i love what he does to it. i'd liked to have had more of a 'process' in place rather than the rather shambolic way i did this - maybe next time...

This is lovely. The basses kicking in at 3:40 -- that shift really packs a punch. I was listening to your playlist and this followed by "she moved through the fair" seemed like perfect transition, almost like a coda to this.
