Mutations

My band MYELIN SHEATHS has a LP coming out, and this is the first song on the record! ROCK!

So after I wrote my MA thesis on Metafilter, I started playing lots of music - touring, recording, putting out records etc. I've been in lots of bands, but this one has actually started to get attention. We put out two 7" singles earlier this year (one on HoZac records out of Chicago, one on Bachelor Records out of Austria), got asked to play some big shows and are doing it! This summer our first LP "Myelin Sheaths Get on Your Nerves" will be released on South-Paw records out of Oakland. Really excited for it to come out!

I play drums on this one, and I also did the recording in my basement "studio."

I've now listened a few times and it's great. Congrats on the touring (you coming our way?) and the record. Did you do this all live?

wait, of course you did, dumb question. How did you record this? That was my question.

It was half-live - only have a digital 8-track (one of those Zoom R16 that I don't think I can reccomend enough). We all played - miced the drums only. Then the bass listened to that and overdubbed bass, then the guitars and then vocals. Worked out pretty good!

We are coming out to Portland for SMMRBMMR in August! Lets hang out again!!

Oh man, I love the way everything is on the edge of clipping and becoming too fuzzy but it's a perfect amount of fuzzy. Really solid and I will definitely be at your Portland show!

What do I have to do to get some vinyl sent my way?

Might be a bit late on answering, but our HoZac 7" is available from them (http://www.hozacrecords.com/), and there are a few of our Euro 7" on Bachelor available at Southpaw (http://www.southpawdistro.bigcartel.com/), who will also have our LP (When we finish it...)
