14 Baktun

14 minutes of improvisation from Carbon 7, heralding the end of the Mayan Long Count.

Making is up as we go along. Starts out kinda laconic but takes a radical turn at the 9:25 mark when Ron switches to the hammond patch on the Prophet. I feel like this is one of the most cohesive things we've done. At 50, I'm finally in the band I've wanted to be in since I was 13, but was to stupid to realize for 30 years.

I'm also really pleased with the recording. Live in the same room, 3 mics on the drums -- overhead, kick & floor tom, mic on Ron's Princeton for the Prophet 5, a mic on the borrowed Peavy Rock Master (this is a great amp!) I'm playing bass through & a direct line for Ron's Ensoniq synth.

Music for canning durable foods, practicing your defensive posture & escalating the current crisis, whatever it is.

This is what I imagine would happen if you took a 70's prog record and applied evolutionary algorithms. Awesome.
