I'm flattered that our music is valuable enough to "steal" like this...

Looks like someone did some random raiding of our content back in Fall 2010 for a (now seemingly abandoned) free radio site...

So I googled my username tonight (like you do) and saw that Real Talk to Meffy was posted on this site. It looks like the scraping starts in 9/2010 and ends 12/2010. There are a bunch of MeFiMu song there, and the comments on the songs link back here.

The language is Portuguese; the site was registered by proxy according to whois. Likely Brazillian in origin.

I imagine it was some low level employee tasked with finding free music to seed the site. I base this on the user's attributed content.

I'm not calling for any action on Mefi's part, especially since it isn't an ongoing problem. I thought I would point it out, though.

Yeah, it's a weird sort of effect of living on the web; short of us locking down music content to a "no one can listen without an account and a pinkyswear" level, scrapers gonna scrape. We see mefite's music pop up on one or another nobody site periodically. If it's something really highly-visible or otherwise somehow egregious it's the sort of thing mathowie can try and be a heavy about with the folks involved, but with the blippish nobody sites it's often not realistically worth the effort.

Always totally fine to drop a note about any such weirdness to the contact form as well in case we're having a slow day.
