Cry Me A River by miss lynnster

Happy Sunday, hive mind! Well, I haven't been performing jazz much since moving to the Bay area. I'll confess, I've missed my musicians in LA (see song title) & just haven't found my niche/comfort zone up here yet. For a while, I was commuting down South to work on a CD but it got to be too difficult... so my musical life has been in limbo & this year I REALLY hope to change that. If you folks say you'd like to hear more mp3s, I do have some. And hey... if there's someone out there who would seriously like to collaborate with (or hire) this chick singer... I'm all ears and open to advice. I also take requests! :)

I miss singing for people...

At The Mountains Of Madness by sourwookie

A short surf instrumental.

One of the bands I'm currently in, The Filthy Thirds, has started a side project/alter ego group called The Boogeymen. It is a horror/surf project where we mash up classic horror movie persona's with early 60's surf. We wrote all our own surf songs, our only cover being a "Wipeout" style version of John Carpenter's "Halloween" theme. Our debut show is in a couple of weeks and we will play in costume. My character is Mummy Holly.

This song gets its title from an H.P. Lovecraft book, and was recorded with a hanging mic in the basement, yet is surprisingly clear. Some lead guitar was overdubbed.

Farewell To Tarwathie by Aquaman

As sung by The Stevedores, a 5-piece band (concertina, banjo/bouzouki, guitar, bass & drums, 3 part vocals) singing tunes of Land & Sea. Active in Seattle from 1997-2000, we were most liked by Irish dancers, union folks and maritime ethusiasts. This lovely piece is about the brave fishing lads who set off each season for months of labor far from the land.

Oh Death by flapjax at midnite

Here's my version of this most haunting of American folk songs. It's very stripped-down: just voice, drone, a bass drum and a shekere. In the time-honored folk tradition, I've made a few minor lyrics changes here and there, and the melody I'm using is different from the Dock Boggs or Stanley Brothers versions of the tune. Anyway, it's one of my very favorite traditional songs. Hope you enjoy.
