This started out as a quirky little Spoon riff ripoff, then it turned into a moody acoustic number, but when I tried to record it, it took a left turn into mutant son muntano. It ended up somewhere between Squeeze and Gloria Estefan, I think.

As autumn arrives, it always gives me a feeling of glorious sad sentimentality, almost like a chemical reaction. Whether I actually have something to feel sentimental about or not, those chilly sun-filled days create a longing like a chemical reaction. Woke up this morning with a sore throat and my voice about an octave lower than usual so I figured it was time to record a cover of Roger Miller's despicable novelty hit that was #1 on the country charts the day I was born. Despicable because it's a song written from the perspective of a complete cunt. So I brought some self loathing to the table, along with the sore throat and my complete inability to play blues guitar.

Awesome stuff, guys. I'll represent retro/chip music: I'm involved in the niche hobby of writing new music with old videogame hardware. The music you are hearing was programmed in notepad using a TurboGrafx 16 (PC Engine). It's meant to combine Capcom and Konami videogame soundtracks of the late 80s, hence the weird title. I perform this music live in NYC, with guitars and lasers. I got awesome advice on Ask MeFi about how to get my equipment to shows, and as thanks I'll share my stuff with whoever might enjoy it. More of it is at my site, and my friends who also do this share it also.
