Hobbes by Corduroy

Here is an improvisational song written from the perspective of an older Calvin finding Hobbes in a box. It's recorded in one take with Mythbusters on in the background, and the chords are from this comment by sleepy pete. As such, I also tried to write the lyrics in his style.

Passionate Surrender by ibfrog

More three part solo. This time even the melody is improvised. The lyrics are a poem that caught my eye online. (link inside)

studio time: 2007-03-25 by ikebowen

First thing: this file is 9.98 megs. Score. Second: The track is upwards of ten minutes. It's from a series casually referred to as studio time - hit the jump for a better description. The upshot is that this is me, sitting at a piano, with no particular idea of what to play.

Frazzled Dragon by Fuzzy Monster

Happy Hopeful Rock that sounds like The Sun Coming Up. This is one of the first songs our band Miracle Beard ever recorded. As always, everything was made up on the spot as the tape rolled.

Worse Than Pop - Cell You a Beat for a Nickel by Eideteker

(4:12) In our quest to bring you the lowest in lo-fidelity recordings, this track was recorded over a cell phone, originally for livejournal. Just for fun, I've converted it from a low bitrate .ogg to a low bitrate .mp3. It's not easy on the ears, but then, that's not what Worse Than Pop is about.

This is a little closer to my true sound, though it's not really a full-fledged beatbox. It'll have to do for now. Entirely improvised, just some random beats, and yes, a few slipups (they're meant to be endearing). Hopefully, this will inspire better efforts in the genre to be uploaded to HiFi.

Hillbilly Disco by jahmoon

This is just an improv jam from a rehearsal with my old band. It's a little bit funky, a little jazzy. Overall it's just a really fun groove IMO. The recording quality is not the greatest but it's not too bad. It features me on drums, my buddy Dan on guitar and another guy named Jonathan on keys.

Enjoy.

Trees + Herbs Just Got Easier by Espy Gillespie

cloeburner and I used to be in an improv noise rock band called cloeburner. When I listen to this song, I think of a majestic bald eagle, sinking slowly into a pool of lava and contemplating its own mortality. I hope you will, too.

Community Noise by nylon

Members of the public were invited to bring a non-musical object to a drop-in recording session. We recorded them making a noise with their thing ('things' included carrots, an umbrella, false teeth, keys, photoflash, adding machine, pints of beer), and then the next day I did an improvised gig using only the collected sounds as source material. This is an excerpt from the gig.
