Lucky

Forgive me gatecrashing the challenge. I've never consciously heard "OK Computer" or this track. I just read through the lyrics and this one resonated for some reason - serendipitously enough given it's Friday 13th! Hope no-one is offended by this effort bearing absolutely no relation to the original other than the lyric. Feels a bit like I've drunkenly decided to juggle with some Meissen china or something... Karma Police

Here's another Roddy's O-Face track off their Lofi Computer album! If I remember right, Ned wrote this one, and it's about his ex-girlfriend's cop dad and the time he drew a magic marker Hitler stache on her at a party when she passed out, or something like that. [more inside]

Night People

...funky but neat. A thrown-together (2 hours from soup to nuts) attempt to reflect the wretched cheesiness of the world John Cooper Clarke depicts in this one. I guess I could have added a little more Gorgonzola, but, eeeeuuw, it's high enough....even for Mr Cavendish and the enigmatic Elizabeth...

Hero (cover)

First album I ever bought for myself was Mariah Carey's "Music Box", and it was mostly for the single "Hero". Accordingly, I had to cover that for this month's challenge. I wasn't sure what the hell to do with it, so I recorded an instrumental with: drums, piano, upright bass, melodica, two acoustic guitars, baritone uke, banjo, harmonica, another harmonica in a different key, some flute thing I found, thumb piano, and theremin and also some more theremin, almost all of those just playing improvised melody takes. Troll's Theme Song

Originally titled Möbius Madness, this recursive ditty has been repurposed for the January Challenge. Truncated from its original length of 26 minutes to meet the 10MB size restriction, Troll's Theme Song is meant to demoralize the listener; it may cause confusion, insanity, and bleeding of the ears. Girl on a Swing (Ballad of a Cavalryman)

This is a super-rough demo of a song I wrote yesterday for the 'Has Been for Years' song fight. It's a gothic little waltz using a resonator guitar, told from the point of view of a trooper in the 7th cavalry who was killed at Little Big Horn while waiting to be relieved by Reno's troops. Recorded before I put my pants on, for the challenge. Video proof is here. [more inside]
