Sheepshead Bay

Just in time for the "bridge" music challenge, the Micah Berry Band finished the five-song Traveling Soul EP featuring this track (where this bridge figures prominently). That's Micah Berry on guitars and vocals, Matt Hulcher on bass, Scott Williams on drums and me on piano. Micah's Myspace is over here.

Can't You Find It?

Can't you find it? Where'd you put it? Is it in your pocket?

Signals

I'm not ready to unload any of my instrumental piano music on here yet, so here's another band song—the only song I've ever written for a band. The original version only exists on poorly recorded minidisc recordings of live shows, and I can't stand listening to that version any more because after I brought it to the band it quickly dawned on me that I had just written The Beatles' "Glass Onion" all over again. Oops. So this here's a 70s groove version of the song I just started working on today. My plan is to get a new band together and rerecord it like this.

Seven Years of Bad Luck

Another Dessert Parade track from the same recording where the track that'll be on the forthcoming MeFi compilation CD came from. The songwriter's new band, Turbine, has taken this song and reworked into a song that has a completely different feel to it, but I still prefer this version. (Posted in honor of MeFi's 7th birthday.)

Sold Sign

Once upon a time, there was a band named Thred. It imploded because our manager was hot and three of the guys in the band couldn't keep their hands off her. We recorded this one for a benefit CD that never materialized, in a studio where I eventually found myself working, learning how to use ProTools. I mixed most of this myself, just for the hell of it. (The song takes aim at local band Carbon Leaf, whom we didn't think were deserving of the praise they were getting. I just can't see a penny whistle on the MTV except for R.E.M., and you ain't them...)

Let's Play

Odd time signature for the verse, standard 4/4 chorus. We're not really sure why it turned out that way, but we liked it. Another one by Dessert Parade recorded for that first release.

Working On A Line

This is one of the tracks I submitted to the MeFi music compiiation project, but not the one that will be included on the CD. Dessert Parade is primarily a studio band now, since the four of us have scattered around the country and both the bass player and guitar player are on their way to being Famous Rock Stars. We recorded this one in 2002 for our first release.
