Filtery drone from my JUNO 60 meets ukulele playing exactly four notes. No verse, no chorus, no changes, no development... just does what it does for 2 minutes and 43 seconds, then stops. It's the soundtrack for a video here.

Here's my version of the esteemed Mr. Cohen's paean to the religion of love. I dropped the rhythm and chord changes, and made a new melody. The very minimal accompaniment consists of three tracks from my trusty old JUNO 60 analog synth. That's it! Video version (photos by yours truly) at Vimeo and YouTube.

Here's another Oscillendulum, once again performed only on my beloved old Roland JUNO 60. About an hour ago I also posted this to YouTube, as a soundtrack for a raft of ducks swimming around in Ueno pond. Yet another Oscillendulum went up on YT a few hours before that, as a soundtrack for a revolving restaurant display. Be the first on your block to see 'em!

I took an old 45rpm of a Japanese folk song and started dropping the needle. Took those bits, sliced 'em up and moved 'em around a little, then added some synth and electric piano, some udu and guiro. Et voila! Le Japonisme!

This is one of a series of short pieces (about 10 or 12) I recorded using only a JUNO 60 analog synth (found at a Tokyo junk shop for only 10,000 yen!). The Oscillendulums all share a similar structure (gradual addition and/or subtraction of layered repeating parts), with an eye toward the creation of a sort of liquid polyrhythm. I also had in mind the musical approximation of animal sounds such as frog and insect choruses from a pond, which are part of the inspiration for this series.

Out of several tunes in various states of completion for the RPM project, this is the most presentable. In use for this track are: voice, talking drum, bells (metal and wooden), guiro, synth bass and organ. Every so often I write a song which is overtly political (a protest song, for want of a better term), and this is one of them.
