Fake RPG Soundtrack: Hero's Theme by zhaytee

This tune represents the hero of an RPG video game. Plucky, upbeat, and intrepid, it marches along with a gentle lilt, describing the heroic potential of our protagonist. Yet there's also a tender side to the main melody; during emotional scenes, expect to hear this theme repeated in an undertone.

Fake RPG Soundtrack: Main Title Theme by zhaytee

This is the main title theme for an RPG (as in, video game) that doesn't actually exist (outside of my head, anyway). It's an orchestral piece with strong emphasis on melody and emotion.

snake (demo) by edlundart

Another entry in my recent demo series of posts. I posted a not-quite-done version of the track here, featuring piano and overly heavy drums. It's a song about the old classic video game "Snake". I'm sure I'll revisit the "proper" recording some day, but in the meantime, this is a nice performance.

Fantastische Farben by hellphish

This is a tune I wrote in 05. All the instrument sounds come from an emulated SID chip (Commodore 64) and the drums are a sliced up sample. This song was featured on the "I am 8bit" portion of the King of Kong DVD and now I upload it here to share with my fellow MeFites! I hope you like it.

Metroid by The Great Big Mulp

So, this is how I've spent the afternoon. Constructing a cover of what is, in my opinion, the greatest video game theme ever composed. For your enjoyment. Yes, I know it falls apart a little, in some places. But that's because it's a cappella. And it's a cappella because it would have taken much longer to make were I to have used instruments. Oh! And I'm exhausted. And it seemed like a good idea at the time. Enjoy!

Dracula Man X2 Alpha Turbo by jake

Awesome stuff, guys. I'll represent retro/chip music:

I'm involved in the niche hobby of writing new music with old videogame hardware. The music you are hearing was programmed in notepad using a TurboGrafx 16 (PC Engine). It's meant to combine Capcom and Konami videogame soundtracks of the late 80s, hence the weird title.

I perform this music live in NYC, with guitars and lasers. I got awesome advice on Ask MeFi about how to get my equipment to shows, and as thanks I'll share my stuff with whoever might enjoy it. More of it is at my site, and my friends who also do this share it also.
