Darker, Darker

Another from the Shot Heard 'Round the World (by popular request, I swear). Also recorded in Vermont, summer 2005 and Brooklyn, that fall. Title says it all I guess - violins, shakers, african bells, trombone, flanged guitar solo, air organ. [more inside]

Attack of the Pasta Party Pirates

An original song by my old band, Selected Letters. Alto Sax, Oboe, Violin, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and a good mix of tight arrangement and improvisation. I miss this band a lot, but it was great while it lasted.

Radiohead - "Nude (Strings Remix)"

The result here is spending a few free days on my couch with my violin and computer. I would love all comments/criticism from anybody, as this is something I'd like to continue experimenting with. (I guess if you like it, you can vote by clicking on the plus sign and pass the link onto anybody else). http://www.radioheadremix.com/remix/?id=1196 Thanks! [more inside]

Christmas Time for Girls and Boys

This is the first thing I've recorded in awhile. It's a song about Christmas that I wrote for Surfjam Stevens. I recorded it in my bedroom with a little help from my friends. [more inside]

A song by my band, the Notes and Scratches, kind of about Vivian Eliot and featuring a bunch of water. I sing and play the acoustic and the harmonium.

Un murmullo

V never used to believe me I was truly in love with her. She always said one day I'd get my things and disappear into that world I seemed so enamored with. Words couldn't convince her. The song did.

Superbole

Classical music meets instrumental tango salsa rock. Live recording from the Ohio Action benefit show, October, Kenyon College. I took the solo on this track, replacing vocals with a violin "guest vocalist."

in the Shadow Cast (demo)

Can't have a day with only one post to MuFi! This is from the 48 Hour Project; I spent two days in January holed up writing and recording an EPs-worth of songs that would later become the foundation for my current band. It was cold and tiring and fun...

City Walls and Empires

"When our hearts crumble, sunlight filters through..." Three guitars, trumpet, sax, violin (me), vocal harmonies and rhythm section. My band Institut Polaire recorded this song in February 2006. While we're freezing down here now, we hope this poptastic postcard from Perth (Australia) can be part of a soundtrack for your northern summer.

the Clockmaker's Daughter -- by the Notes and Scratches

Another song from our record, it's a quiet sad folky love song. I'm singing and playing the acoustic guitar.

Circus Maximus

Another song from my college band, this one part of an aborted concept album concerning the Planet of the Robots, the Software of Sentience, and other sorts of robot-related stuff. Recorded in the basement of one of Cooper Union's buildings with a small "in studio" audience shouting "hooray!" at appropriate times.

The Cool Road to Hell

This was my band in college, a surf-instrumental-spy-rock four-piece: bass, drums, guitar, and violin. I'm playing bass in this song.
