Le Bouquet Magique

This is another arrangement of a video game, but this time I wrote the original, as a Nintendo-compatible authentic chiptune, and then later turned it into this by improvising on piano, and sending it to my dear friend Jeff to play violin over it. My job BEST JOB OF WORLD.

Me and Al

This is a sketch of a work in progress. It started out as a simple cascade riff on the top three strings of the guitar and morphed into what appears to be an Irish fiddle lament. [more inside]

Fourteen

Regression is totally sexy, right? This is a nice listless, lofi version of an old song of mine featuring my friend emily's wonderful violin improv. It's a little rough, and I could use some help on rounding off the edges. (oh, and NSFW at the start) [more inside]

What's Not Being Said

Instrumental. We used electric and nylon guitars, glockenspiel, electric bass, and a drum set [played by 2 guitarists, so don't judge]. Criticism [aside from the drums] welcome. [more inside]

Attack of the Pasta Party Pirates

An original song by my old band, Selected Letters. Alto Sax, Oboe, Violin, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and a good mix of tight arrangement and improvisation. I miss this band a lot, but it was great while it lasted.

Un murmullo

V never used to believe me I was truly in love with her. She always said one day I'd get my things and disappear into that world I seemed so enamored with. Words couldn't convince her. The song did.

Classical music meets instrumental tango salsa rock. Live recording from the Ohio Action benefit show, October, Kenyon College. I took the solo on this track, replacing vocals with a violin "guest vocalist."

in the Shadow Cast (demo)

Can't have a day with only one post to MuFi! This is from the 48 Hour Project; I spent two days in January holed up writing and recording an EPs-worth of songs that would later become the foundation for my current band. It was cold and tiring and fun...

City Walls and Empires

"When our hearts crumble, sunlight filters through..." Three guitars, trumpet, sax, violin (me), vocal harmonies and rhythm section. My band Institut Polaire recorded this song in February 2006. While we're freezing down here now, we hope this poptastic postcard from Perth (Australia) can be part of a soundtrack for your northern summer.

Circus Maximus

Another song from my college band, this one part of an aborted concept album concerning the Planet of the Robots, the Software of Sentience, and other sorts of robot-related stuff. Recorded in the basement of one of Cooper Union's buildings with a small "in studio" audience shouting "hooray!" at appropriate times.
