Jessamyn's Song
November 29, 2007 8:23 PM
Well boys and girls, I imagine this is what it would sound like if one was lucky enough to hang out on the front porch with our favorite banjo picking librarian. Yes, that's jessamyn on banjo! (collaboration)

Best thing I've heard all week! It's like a wagon with a broken wheel. Or a little bit of dust blowing into the corner. A creaky sign swaying on an abandoned building. Night falling over a railroad yard.

Nice playin' jessamyn! Definitely coyote (two syllables) territory. I like it.

The whistling is inspired.
It's a bit scary white people music, kind of á la Deliverence, but in a cinematic nice way. At least from my Canadian perspective.

Thanks again to snsranch for the encouragement. This is the first piece of, er, music that I've recorded ever. Mostly I sit around and play the banjo-mando to chill out after a long day at MetaFilter.

Well, now you've sat around, played banjo and will make us all feel relaxed after long days at Metafilter.

I'm really happy that jessamyn took me up on this. I've been hinting/teasing her about making music for a while and here she is twice in one week!

This kicks several kinds of ass. I love collaboration. There's something almost overwhelming endearing about this recording.

Aaah, it's good to have land.
Seriously though, this is awesome. Closing music to the podcast, anyone?

This banjo? Not half as bad as you say make it out to be, jess. Not even a quarter. Maybe an eighth, but then only on a bad day.
I'm serious.

Nice, simple, wistful, it definitely captures the rocking chair on a porch feeling.
