Whispers
July 10, 2008 8:28 AM
Part of the unofficial internal mic mefi challenge. A song about a car accident outside my apartment building and the people that come to watch.
I wrote and recorded this track this morning. I feel like mornings are the best time for me to play and record because that's when it is quietest outside. You can still hear the wind blowing outside and a truck backing up if you listen closely.

This is beautiful. Your voice is great. I'm reminded of M Ward. I can imagine you'd sound amazing with "his" kind of reverb.
I could see this with some careful soft rhodes keys under it in parts.

This is really nice, dobie. I'm kind of a sucker for half hearted 'da da da' noises, so the end was great.

Also, I did not catch all the words. Could you post the lyrics?

Hey Corduroy, I guess I could. I kind of wrote them in one shot so they are still being worked on.
Whispers
the first responder's sirens are still singing in our ears
a crumpled car sits in the street and its occupants lay near
the sun is high up over head and the breeze softly blows
tire track scar the corner of where our garden grows
but he don't
seem to have any doubt
whispers
underneath all the shouts
he tells us that the sky will fall and that they'll have us on our knees
only a fool wouldn't recognize our terrible disease
but if i were a betting man i'd wager that the truth
is somewhere between what he says and the other absolute
i don't
see the end quite so near
the crowd
will soon disappear
until
he searches in vain
for ears
that politely remain

Very nice indeed. And internal mic songs do have some special appeal. Perhaps there should be a tag for them, it would be nice to have them grouped somehow.

Man, I'm really enjoying this unofficial challenge. People can bang out some pretty impressive songs when they put themselves under the gun.
