Broken Wheel (edit)

Turbocharged acoustic. Love and regret. So it goes.
The lyric for this one came out in one stream of consciousness. And it somehow felt inappropriate to try to tidy it up - it seemed complete in its abstraction. Left me completely baffled as to what it was about.....until it eventually dawned that, at the time, I was re-reading Thomas Hardy's "The Mayor Of Casterbridge". Pretentious as it may sound, in many ways (and at different levels) this represents my emotional take on Michael Henchard's story. A rare example, for me at least, of direct but unconscious inspiration from another art form.
This is an edited version of what, in more propitious circumstances, would be the "album version" which is longer by another minute or so.
Technical details for those who may be interested:
Recorded at The Gin Palace, Bristol, England - October 2009
Instrumentation:
Martin J16-12
Martin D-28 (solo)
Korg Triton LE (bass, percussion, twiddly bits)
Mics:
Rode K2
AKG C3000B
Pre-amp:
Korg TP2
Recorder:
Yamaha AW2400

Thank you ocherdraco. I've been really disappointed with the lack of response to this one (one of those rare ones where you think "nailed that - this is as good as it's ever going to get from me") - so it's heartwarming that at least one other person has appreciated it.

I admit I was pretty stunned to find that no one else had commented or favorited it—but I imagine that's likely more due to happenstance (the time it was posted, or how many people posted soon after, or similar) than to the song.
Don't let it get you down. :)
