(or: use of facebook interests page as failed communication device)
I haven't posted anything in a while but this song is one of my more meta recent numbers and so this seemed like a fitting place to post it. The idea behind the song is that the lyrics are all things that would be listed on someone's Facebook interest page (TV shows in the first verse, song titles in the second verse) and so the song is an attempt to take what is often seen as this kind of banal, superficial thing and invest it (in the chorus) with the kind of emotion that leads some people to agonize over those lists of interests and how they can use them to represent themselves to a prospective partner, how they ache to communicate a sense of self through taste. Also, there are "harmonized" guitars at the end. I think a better title might be "'Digital Love' Will Tear Us Apart" but I wanted the song to make sense without this sort of long contextual explanation so I went with the other title. I mixed this on big headphones like everything I do, so if the levels are really messed up in some way, let me know
