Come On Round Here Baby

October 29, 2010 7:40 PM

This is the third in a three part installment here at MeFiMu of diddley bow/stomp box tunes from The Pink Cow. Straight outta Shee-boo-ya, Toe-kee-yo, Jay-pan! Video here.

COME ON ROUND HERE BABY

well there ain't no use in traveling far
wherever you go, honey there you are

come on round here baby, tell me your mind

well i've walked in the sunlight
and i've walked in the rain
but i don't know if i'll ever
walk through your door again

come on round here baby, tell me your mind

well there's twelve roads running outta here
not a single one of them will get you clear

come on round here baby, tell me your mind

well there's a train that's leaving
at eleven forty five
guess i'll get on board
if i'm still alive

come on round here baby, tell me your mind

Man, I don't know if maybe my kids have knocked the wax out of my ears of if you have been doing some black magic voo doo, but your last few posts have been dyno-mite! I hope this doesn't sound silly, but you seem to be performing with more depth and emotional investment...or some such, that's how it feels to me. In this song, the contrast between the relatively low and ominous chord progression on the diddly-bo with you keeping up the higher register vox is really striking and awesome.

Thanks so much, sns. The high register voice here does contrast starkly with the down-in-the-hole diddley bow, doesn't it? With the falsetto, I believe I'm trying to get in touch with my inner Skip James. With the diddley bow, I'm trying to get in touch with my inner Ethiopian King David's harp..
