Kind of a Bossa nova joint for last week's SongFight deal.
Title prompt was After You, challenge was "counter melody."
I actually liked how it turned out. It got sort of dismissed as "elevator music" which is gross but whatevs. I like some of the tones I got here and there; pretty okay for a whipped-up insta-song.
I do my thing and move on. It's just my huge, crushing, cross to bear in the high-stakes, cut-throat world of anonymous, online music submission. I will hold my head high and walk on.

I think this is great. This is to elevator music like Willy Wonka's elevator is to elevators.
Counter-melody would be a great MuFi challenge, too.

I'd hit every button in the elevator if this were playing. Didn't know one could throw out a hip just sitting and listening. Echoing the appreciation of your knack for packing a ton into a short space.

Have yet to hear a chococat song that's not instantly likable - nice job on the Bossa Nova.

I don't necessarily think of 'elevator music' as a bad thing but it's definitely not the term that comes to mind for this song. I usually think of it as background instrumental music from the '70s, like meandering Musak or orchestras or singer-less session bands covering songs.
Rather than that, this song slightly reminded me of a bossa-type Jonathan Coulton song that he released a while back (I haven't heard it in a while but I think the slight bossa flavor, tight performance/vocals are what made me think of it). In any case I only wish I could hear the vocal parts more -- for me sometimes it was hard to make out all the words. Regardless, I hope one day I can get my recordings to sound as clean as yours.
