rambling RPM Challenge song.

This is one of the songs (the titular song, actually) from my RPM Challenge piece. You can download the finished album as a .zip file, or just four of the songs including the finished version of Evan (5) now called stereotypy (heaven), right here.

“I am a bear…” was actually a longer piece with several guitars that I chopped up into smaller bits and looped, then added everything else. The vocals were sung into the mic on a mini-tape recorder and the noise was cleaned up afterward. This is my own personal favorite song for the project. Most of the RPM album is a little noisy (or, as nicely stated by someone, “challenging”), mainly because of the subject matter, but also because I haven’t been in a straightforward-pop-song-writing mood for a little while. I may put the mournful country ending song on here at some point, but we’ll see.

I should also say that the RPM album is finished because 1. there wasn’t much else to do with it, but largely because 2. I’m saying it’s finished because I have a lot of other stuff to do right now… which isn’t much of a ringing endorsement, huh? Good luck to everyone else in finishing up. Thanks to cortex for the bandwidth.

I like it a lot. I personally think acoustic (played instruments) sounds do wonders to "electronic" or "electronically manipulated" music. I'm downloading the rest. Thx for putting it up there.

I knew I should have waited, 'cause I would have more comments after listening to the other songs.

I just heard I-70. After "i am a bear..." I wasn't expecting actual "songs", but it was a nice surprise to hear I - 70. You have a nice singing voice, sleepy pete.

I also think "walking around the mall" is brilliantly done.

ah, gee whiz, thanks micayetoca.

"Driving I-70" is the mournful country ending song I mentioned above. My wife thinks that's the best one of the project, which matters since she's my songwriting partner (well, one of them). I like "Walking Around the Mall" as well, but thought it might be too much to post, especially since my last song posted was mainly me walking around a room. I sang in a way that is much more throaty (for lack of a better term) on this stuff than I usually do. I may start doing that more often as long as my songwriting partner/bandmates don't mind.

Thanks for the nice comments.
