so I've been using this songwriting trick where I program a simple loop using the sequencer on my synths and sort of riff off of it to come up with the other instrumental parts. Then, when I have the idea properly fleshed out, I remove the synths. A songwriting scaffold, of sorts (though in many cases I have kept the original loop in there!!!)
Anyways, for this track I included the synth loop at the very beginning so you can hear what I'm riffing off of for the rest of the track. Hope you like it!!!! -CA

I kind of wanted the synth part to come back in the middle, but I'm not sure I would have wanted anything like that had I not known about it at all.
This was good times, regardless! It reminds me of TV shows I don't actually like that happen to have theme songs that are so good that I look them up on YouTube once in a while.
I agree with edlundart about the occasional dissonant piano note (actually, I only noticed one, now that I think about it) — it can't stop the momentum!

thanks edlundart!!! "Live band just having a rip" is totally the vibe I was going for, so that's great. And also, holy smokes, good to hear from you! It's been a while! Hope you are doing well!

I'm good — just decided to drop in here out of the blue and leave a couple of comments. Still passively on MeFi quite a bit, just don't always have time to contribute. But glad to see so many of the old regulars are still here posting new music. Enjoy your weekend!

I was surprised that this ended up, to my ears, sounding like a good old-fashioned pop-rock type feel-good thing from another era, given the synth start. There is also something delightful about the odd "wrong" note in there, almost like this thing is rolling forward at such a pace that not every musician on stage could totally keep up, but everyone had a blast. Feels very live and band-like as a result, even if I assume you recorded every instrument/sound yourself.
A fun listen.
