Monthly MeFiMu Challenge thread - August edition

So, here in my neck o' the woods it's already August 1, but many of you western hemisphere types still have a few hours to get your VU&N covers in under the deadline. I'm counting about 35 submissions in as of right now (with just a few hours left in the month!), which is, of course, below the number of folks who signed on, but, hey, that's life in the slow lane! I'm hoping for an avalanche of last-minute masterpieces. But meanwhile... on to the next! So without further ado... [more inside] posted by flapjax at midnite at 7:14 PM PST - 20 comments

This track switches between three time signatures, and features an intro with a style of singing I guess one could call very vaguely eastern. It's a slow and gentle affair with softly distorted ebowed guitar, piano, and xylophone. It also includes a guitar solo in which a single note is played repeatedly. And lyrics that are pretty silly. Lyrics Writing and the Subconscious

Sometimes I"m really surprised how accurately writing lyrics, one can capture your current emotion of existensial dillemma without any forthought or intention on the part of the Author. I mean these words that pop into my head, that alone seem quite meaningless, but eventually coalese into a concise summation of 'my lot' without a single conscious thought in that direction. This is the demo I recorded for this song posted earlier. I slapped some kind of distortion effect over it to approximate the feel I wanted in the final version.
