My Girl

We were young. We had a 4-track, a room full of instruments, and several pots of coffee. We'd just learned how to mess with vocals by speeding them up or slowing them down. Things got weird. [more inside]

casanova ruins

I was walking around in the garment district at night on valentine's day years ago, and spotted a beautiful woman walking alone across the street. Despite being glamorously dressed up, she looked like she had lost all faith in men. She was carrying a heart-shaped balloon and huge flowers. This song is sort of about that. [more inside]

Sift

Kind of a break from recording and re-recording songs to be played live this year, this is kind of a folksy, reverb and acoustic-heavy, simple and short composition. Harmonizing my vocals is such a bummer lately, since it reveals how limited one's range is... [more inside]

Horn

A new version of a song I came up with this year. This is a lot like how it will sound live. Hopefully it'll get even funkier. (disclaimer: used to be called "The Porn Song")

Aaaaand it's another nugget from Derailleur's alternate-Bond-theme project. We found that flipping from "and" to "or" gives you a completely different take on life. [more inside]

Solace for King Benny?

I was so upset by King Benny's loss of pets/friends as described in 'All my hearts are belong to you' that I fell into a fit of sentimental indulgence and thus penned a hurried tribute. Apologies for taking anyone's name in vain...

This is the reaction to my constant enthusiasm about music theory: I strung up my first guitar, a 3/4 size steel-string classical, with a mismatch of electric guitar strings, and tuned it BF#BBBD#. Then just played whatever. It made for an entertaining spring break and a kind of 'endearing' song.
