Pirate Love
A little music for the holiday. Recorded last New Year's Eve.
The Siren
Probably the hardest song off the latest Red On Strike album, the Siren calls the nation to rock! Previously. [more inside]
She Talks To Rainbows
A Ramones cover from the latest Red On Strike album. For comparison, here's our previous attempt at recording this song, and a video of us doing it live a couple weeks ago.
Third Time's The Charm
I wrote this song about our singer's latest attempt to make things work with her long time boyfriend. Ironically, by the time we got it recorded they had split up again. It is off our new album, which is available for name-your-price download at bandcamp.
When The Morning Comes
Ever get up in the morning, only to learn what happened last night? From our new album Her Own Little World.
In Your Eyes
This song was inspired by our singer's video chats with her long distance beau. It is on the new Red On Strike album Her Own Little World, now available for download on Bandcamp. [more inside]
Lover's Slide
A song about lust mistaken for love, from the upcoming Red On Strike release Her Own Little World [more inside]
BP Song
A song from the upcoming Red On Strike release Her Own Little World. [more inside]
BP Song
A song about the Gulf oil spill, from my band Red On Strike. [more inside]
She Talks To Rainbows
A Ramones cover, from their last album Adios Amigos.
If You Got The Time
The second song from our first self-recording session. This one rides on a solid bassline, and has a big chorus and a powerful ending.
When The Morning Comes
The band has decided to dive into recording ourselves instead of going to a studio, and this is the first result of that effort. I'd appreciate any suggestions you have on making it better. [more inside]
Silver Lining
A low fi version of the Stiff Little Fingers song that somehow feels appropriate for this New Year. [more inside]
The Card Cheat (live)
A cover of the Clash song, recorded live last Saturday night in Pomona, CA.
Carry On (live)
Another song from last week's live show - not sure how I got so lost there at the end, but otherwise it's a good version. Previously.
BP Song
Another song from Saturday's set at Characters in Pomona. This is a new song about the Gulf spill- it's only the second time we've done it live, and it still a little rough in the middle part. Demo version.
One For The Road - Long Live Rock (Live)
The end of our set Saturday night, recorded from the crowd on my TASCAM DR-07. We opened up for East Bay Ray's new band The Killer Smiles, the band was pretty excited about it, and I think the energy really comes through. [more inside]
I'm Losing You (Live)
As the lady says, this is a cover of a John Lennon tune recorded live last Friday night in Pomona.
One For The Road
An upbeat song about having one more drink before calling it a night, with a sound a little different than the standard Red On Strike fare. RPM 2008 solo version.
Eliza
The first song I ever wrote, trying to capture my feelings following the breakup of my first serious relationship. Song 7 of 8 from the recent Red On Strike studio session. [more inside]
Lay It On The Line
One last shot / Give it all you got
Take a chance babe, I’m taking mine [more inside]
Carry On
I wrote this song to try and get into the head of a friend who is rarely faithful. RPM Challenge version.
Serious Song
Some very unserious punk rock from Red On Strike. Garage version.
Live Life
A cover of the Kinks song
Long Time Coming
Kind of a change for Red On Strike, heavy on the bass/drum groove. I wrote this song for RPM 2007, and I really like the way we adapted it for the band.
Same Thing
A song about drinking and its consequences-- first of eight songs recorded by my band Red On Strike last weekend. Previous version here.
Anxious Hands (v2 mixed)
The final mix of this raw track.
Anxious Hands (v2 raw)
This is a re-recording of the first song I ever posted to MeFi Music, a catchy little tune written by our bass player Steve. [more inside]
Regrets
This is one of the first songs I wrote about 4 years ago. An earlier recording is posted here.
The Siren
And the rock and roll continues...
Get Up
Did someone request a kick in the ass?
Makin' Steps
Looking back, there's a lot of stuff I've done over the last few years that never got posted here. So I am going to remedy that, starting with our track from the MeFi Music comp.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
A cover of the Neil Young tune.
Long Time Coming
I came up with a weird little guitar line with a droning D string and put it over a steady tom beat punctuated with the occasional triangle. Figured it would be one of my RPM songs that didn't get used by my band, but the singer and bass player both love it. Anybody got and ideas on how to do this one with a group? [more inside]
Lazy Susan
Our bass player wrote this song about a little girl in Afghanistan, probably the closest we come to a political song
Three In The Morning
This song was written about a friend with too many loser friends.
No Other Way
A song we wrote about a month before we recorded it last August, with lyrics by our singer Red
Femme Fatale
A Velvet Underground cover from our recent recording session
Best Friend
Another "raw mix" alcohol-related song, this time as the solution to, instead of cause of, all life's problems.
Same Thing (raw)
I wrote this song for my friends that can't handle their alcohol. This is a very raw mix from our recording session this past Saturday. (lyrics inside)
Everything and Nothing
A slow(er) one from my band Red On Strike
You Are The One
I know you never meant to bring it quite to this place
And everybody watching can see it's a hell of a show
I know you're only feeling like a mouse in a rat race
But there's just one thing I think you ought to know
If it's down to me or you, you got to go
Say Yeah
This is a Red On Strike recording from about 6 years ago, and features a great live intro from Red...
Running
A song about disappointment and distance, by my band Red On Strike.
Regrets
Another rockin' tune from Red On Strike...
Bleeding Hands
This is a song written by Red On Strike's rhythm guitarist, Camron Gasser, inspired by a particularly bad day at work. Can't you see bleeding hands don't lie?
