Another track off the new album, with bonus video and links to the evolution of the song from a first sketch as posted here on MeFiMu. [more inside]

Someone to Love (live)

Live version of a song I posted a demo of a while back, featuring my friend John on the mighty Hammond A100 (a B3 essentially). An interesting moment, in that it's the culmination of a long journey that I lived out here on MeFiMu, originally as unSane, then Sweet Mister, and now Sportswriters. [more inside]

Somebody to Love (You)

Full on frenzied singalong Northern Soul with some spectacularly funktastic drumming from my pal Darrell. Put on your dancing shoes and join in the 'You-oooo's if you want.

Almost Over

Pretty much finished version of this sketch I posted previously. Our drummer is going to put live drums in but we're still trying to figure it out... other than that it's mostly done. Sort of sits in a strange space between studio one, funky soul and white boy reggae circa 1977.

Almost Over (sore throat mix)

Holy crap, this is rough. On the knife edge between soul and reggae, neither of which I'm qualified to sing, but part of my ongoing project to write songs people actually want to listen to. [more inside]

How'm I Going to Get Over?

Another torch song, I guess. Used the new 'drummer' track from Logic Pro X for the drum track... quite impressed the way it adapts the kick/snare pattern to the emphasis in the bassline. LPX is quite nice, but still buggy on my machine. Another hard song to sing, for me anyway.
