novocaine

Yep, I prefer just "novocaine" for this jaunty little cover tune I did from Green Day's "American Idiot." Well maybe not jaunty, exactly.
Hopefully this mix doesn't sound like total ass, I've been mixing for too many hours in row.
Anyway: overall, not drastically different in vibe from the original, but I wanted it to be more slinky/groovy and less straight ahead. To that end, I used a batch of badass samples provided by the NIN guys (hunt for the "ArhythMia" (yes, only one 'r') sample cd's, and you will see what I mean).
The synth line throughout is from the Reason 4 Thor synth, and the lead in the bridge section is from my Micron which I did some stuff to with automated filters.
Acoustic guitar strumming in emphasized spots because my electric guitar technique is a bit lacking (or to put it another way, not there).
Please check out my other stuff, yo, at

Thank you and good night.

There was some New Age music that would lean toward this sort of sound when I was a teenager, and I would hear it and think OH GOD YES. It's like you're redone Green Day as a Eurovision Song Contest entry, but without sucking.
Excellent.

Never heard the original but your version sounds OK to me. Funny song.

I think I liked what you did, your singing, etc. more than the song itself. Also do not know the original, but this is fine.
