fender speakers

Anyone know what these speakers are?

I would've posted to askme but I just asked a question and I don't want to potentially let a deal get away. The way he posted the ad makes me think he really does know the value of the speakers but who knows, maybe they're actually a nice find.

Man, that might be a nice find, but a couple of things just don't ring true right off the bat. (Regarding them being Fenders.)

1. The logo badge should be nestled up in that left upper corner. It's not, and you can google around to make sure (I just did.) That just looks like a really unnatural position for anything Fender during that, or any, time period.

2. I've been in and out of older Fender amps and cabs for many years and have never come across anything that wasn't pretty easily identifiable. (My bass cab is an old Sunn that had been modified, but I was still able to identify it.) Two shops should have been able to name that box.

Now if you're thinking that they might be worth 5 grand because they are Fenders doesn't mean that they're not because they aren't.

Considering what they look like, I would test them out, see if they're blown or sound good, and if they DO sound good...jeez for less than $200 they're probably worth it. Then you can open them up and find out what they really are. They might be gems of another sort or brand name.

Hhhhhhmmmm bit unusual for PA speakers to comprise 3 x 10" + horn. Three + horn is an unusal configuration anyway, but for what appear to be small club PA cabs I'd expect to see at least a couple of 12" in there or even one 15", a 12", a 10" and a horn. I got stitched up once when I was a rookie - went to London and bought what I was told was an Orange 4x12" cab - sure it was orange but it wasn't Orange (if you get my meaning). I knew jack in those days. I agree totally with snsranch - get the back off and make sure that there are genuine Fender speakers inside - they may well be genuine old Fender cabs, but that doesn't mean the speakers are. Frankly that's the first thing I'd do rather than wasting time playing anything through them - depends really if its the speakers you're after or whether you want a weird little PA!

I just took a look at the speakers today, the drivers are made of paper and are a cardboard type color if that helps in the ID. They were in good shape but definetely looked to be in too good of shape for the 60's-70's so I'm guessing they had been replaced. I'm going to take an amp over tomorrow and see what they sound like.
