I've always wondered why god would insist that his people live their lives in shame and guilt and fear. Why he would cause them to hate others. Why he would insist that they remain ignorant and superstitious. Why he would require them to believe some, frankly, pretty ridiculous things.

Then I had a visit, and now I know the truth. He doesn't.
