Fare Thee Well, Angry Leather Jacket with a Knife

August 4, 2010 8:50 PM

An elderly man remembers a favorite and long-departed leather jacket with great fondness and maybe a bit of regret.

Ulp. I've just returned to music as a burgeoning habit after 15 years away. This song is, well, a departure from my childhood/adolescent recorder lessons, style-wise, and is part of a larger project to explore the possibilities of the recorder in conjunction with Audacity. All comments and criticisms are most welcome.

This is some really nice playing; I've got no real head for flute-type instruments, so I'm probably kind of an easy sell there, but it's good stuff. The buildup from simple atmospheric playing in the initial part to the pushing-into-distortion overlap later on is a nice textural shift, too. Ending cuts off a bit abruptly, though; bad cut point?

Very nice ambient sound. Thanks for sharing!

Aw, thanks, both of you, for your comments. cortex, you're spot on about the abrupt ending. I think I just self-criticized myself into stopping far too early. Thank you again for the encouragement.
