(as an aside, yes--the vocals are supposed to be completely distorted beyond recognition and covered up by the noise by the end. Basically, the point where it fades from the foreground is where it becomes a wall of science that...frankly, nobody but Tommy really cares about anymore. The turtle's been dispatched, the rest of this section is about the preparation of the slides, and things like that.
