For a Spanish Guitar - My cover of a Gene Clark song

November 1, 2020 6:50 PM

Hi Everyone, This is my cover of Gene Clark's classic For a Spanish Guitar, a song Dylan praised by saying anyone who have been proud to have written it. All my own playing, and I recorded myself in my bedroom a few years ago. Let me know what you think! Talltaleheart

Sorry - just to clarify - Dylan said anyone would have been proud to have written it - I was typing too quickly.

Would have liked to have heard the classic Byrds lineup record this one.

I absolutely love the shimmery quality of the 12 string and the harmonica

Thanks! It's actually two 6 string guitars, once of which is Nashville strung i.e. the top 4 strings are an octave higher than standard. It sounds a bit like a harpsichord to me on this recording.

I'm unfamiliar with this music (well, mostly... I do vaguely recognize it), but I agree with the "shimmery" comment, these guitars sound like they're almost floating into heaven. And, your voice is very calming!
