Let It Go or Give In

I wrote this very recently and decided to record it while it was still fresh. It still needs a lot of work instrumentally, and structurally as well. I'm thinking about working with some musician friends to spruce it up a bit. I would love feedback!

About 3/4 of the way through I looked back at what you said about spicing it up a bit - I think you're right, it needs something to change or evolve.

I love your voice, and I love the solo guitar. Really. But something else needs to come into play. I half expected it to turn into some sort of ballad as it seemed a natural progression.

But god damn I loved it.

Hey this is great pazazy! My only feed back about adding to this would be to not make it too pretty. When I listen to someone like Nanci Griffith, sometimes there is just too much going on musically and it detracts from the awesome voice, like yours.

I just listened to Going to Abilene(sp?) and noticed a big difference in your recording. Right on!

Mandolin, upright bass, maracas. Maybe kit drums about halfway in, maybe not. Keep it sparse and organic. Maybe a male voice singing a lower harmony in the chorus.

Lovely song.

I agree with snsranch, there's very little needed really in this song and anything you add should be nice and subtle (stay away from the strings methinks!)

Great song, great voice, wanna hear more!

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! I am finally writing again after about four years of total blocked-ness, so it's really encouraging.

I have a few friends who have volunteered to work on it with me, I'm hoping to get my very talented guitarist friend to write a suitable guitar melody and help me distinguish the chorus more from the verse.

I am thinking kit drums, after the second chorus. We'll see what happens!

And the difference in the recording is because I didn't record this one. I really suck at recording! Too impatient. This was recorded by a good friend.
