Amenoukihashi (Bridge)

This is a sort of a memoir of the early romantic life of the Japanese gods Izanagi and Izanami, based on my almost complete ignorance of the subject.

Lyrics:

On the bridge
Between the Heaven
And the Earth
Two deities got together
With a halberd
And they dipped it
In the sea

And where it dripped
There formed the island
Onogoro
And the deities
Built a pillar
In the palace that they called
Yahirodono

But they didn't birth gods
The first time they tried
When they went around the pillar
One on each side

And she said
Hello
And he said
Oh no

And she said
Hello my love
Hello

And he said On No! Sounds like mortal marriage. That's a cute story and a nice song.

Wait, I'm confused. When did this happen on Metafilter?

izanagi and izanami represent jonmc and quonsar, respectively, and yahirodono is a metaphor for metatalk

or something

I'll stick that on my Amazon wishlist.

Months-later note: I think there's a lot more of my fondness of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in this song than I realized when I first wrote it.
