Metafilter Music Collab | Teaser #1: Backing Vocals

November 15, 2007 7:01 PM

To appease (or perhaps aggravate) your curiosity, here's a tiny little teaser compiled from the Mefi Music Collaboration tracks.

Please be patient. An actual mix is in the works, but real life obligations abound, plus I tend to take my time with these things anyway. When people ask I'm telling them it will be here in time for Christmas, and I promise to stick to that schedule.

This little outtake features the vocal stylings of chococat, escabeche, karlos the jackal's wife, verysleeping, and Zachsmind.

Thanks again to all who contributed.

GNFTI, that's amazing. Such a choral thing could never be done in person. Wow. The final mix is going to kick ass!

This alone sounds great. I can't wait for the rest.

I sure like my wife.

This is neat.

Yeah, her voice sounds nice, good idea getting her to sing in it.

You know, probably the cruelest thing in the world is taking someone's vocal track that was recorded to music and solo-ing it.
I feel like I'm bare naked. Or Linda McCartney.

I laughed, though.

Wow, I never wondered what it would sound like if I were in an a capella group, but now I know.

Yes, I know! That was really the cruelest part, worse than the teasing bit for me, and I wondered if I could get away with it. I know how I feel when that happens - but then again I thought it sounded great, so I just went ahead with it.

yeah, my voice wasn't in it, so I probably shouldn't chime in, but it sounded so good, that no one should feel bad about it. It almost made me wish the whole thing was a crazy a capella version.

That would be sort of disappointing for those who submitted instrumental tracks, don't you think?

yeah, like me, for example. I was just sayin', mate.

I feel like Joey showing his other Friends where he is in the porn film. "There I am... there I am... there i am..." But hey, every porn film needs its pizza delivery guy or the dude trying to fix the copier while there's an orgy going on top of it. There are no small parts. Only people who can't sing as well as they wish they could, that get faded down in the mix.

Seriously, the money shot was everybody else. I just came for the pizza. =)

AERGH! I knew I forgot something! My tracks (no vocal, though) are on my desktop at home, but I never sent them.

I'll send 'em, and you can ignore 'em or use 'em.

That is great, what an appetite-whetter.
