L'echarpe perdu

January 7, 2008 4:42 PM

One of the sillier songs from my album "Bless Your Heart", remixed by Daren Callow (uploaded with permission).

I think I prefer Daren's version to mine. You can compare it the original here. He's not changed much but he's removed quite a bit, including some obscure Linux-based effects (electric piano sounds turn into organ things when you use the Retro Flange and turn everything to maximum, hence the EP here and the 'organ' there) and he added a small but tasteful (in context) amount of strings at the end.

See what you think.

I am a fan of seeing lyrics, but otherwise, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I enjoy both versions. This one is lighter and more accessible but the original sounds great as well.

I don't know how I managed to miss this when it was posted. Great song, motty. The music is nice and the lyrics are brilliant. As for the two versions, I don't know how to describe it, the remix you posted here seems easier on the ear, though that sounds like the other one is harsher, which it isn't. I downloaded both, but I think I'll keep Darren's version (perhaps that serve as an example of what a random listener might do. Or not).

The songwriting is brilliant, though. And the line "And all of the things that in some other
World I might have pursued for your sake I abjure. I'd still really like that scarf back though...
is priceless.

Just as a matter of preference, I like your version better. Both are really good, but the happy/funky bass and guitar don't seem as true to the song as your mellower version does.

Great stuff though, man. Thanks for posting this.
