Low quality stomping country music recorded drunk and presented here in it's straight-from-the-desk unmixed format. Came out pretty good. Nice rattly drums.

Great song, and the recording sounds real nice 'n' visceral.

Should have added: This is a song that is around about 200 years old and so should be considered trad.arr. I've heard Dylan and Gillian Welch do versions.

Cortex: It's the way you capitalize the R and T that makes me know you love it. :)

I thought it was only rejected from the MeFi Comp album for want of a better quality recording? Anyway, I love this song.

mullacc: more or less, yes. Get's my foot going every goddam time, but there was no uncompressed master available and turtlegirl was going crazy trying to make the mix work.

I had a conversation with Matt - the guy who owned all the recording equipment and is on backing vocals and lead guitar here. It went:
"I need a lossless version of the mix"
"There was no mix. We burned live to CD"
"Well we need a wav of a mix"
"What's a wav?"
"It's a lossless version of the mix"
"What's a lossless?"
"An uncompressed version"
"Oh. An MP3"
"No...Ah forget it..."

Jofus, I'm not a big fan of country cuz it lacks what this song has. A little shit-kickin, a little old-timey and played with soul. I love it!

I think it sounds great. It's an audio party. I mean, it just has so much energy. Very cool.

Is this too Irish to be country? Or too country to be Irish? I can't decide.
Either way it's frickin' awesome. Bravo.

The mix of everything reminds me of Calexico. Which is a good thing.

This song is the very reason why I need to come to Metafilter Music more frequently. A very nicely executed song that had me tappin' mah feet along to a happy beat. Well done Jofus!
