Pacific Street (Hem Cover)

My favorite Hem song. It was first an outtake from Rabbit Songs then later a track on Eveningland.
I have excuses for the quality:
1) I'm drunk.
2) I'm using a shitty usb headset mic with and I'm getting over a cold so I sound pretty nasal.
3) The original is much better on piano, unfortunately I play guitar.
4) This is the first time I've used GarageBand to record anything.
5) I'm drubk.
Other than that, I like how it turned out.

The sound quality isn't that bad, eyeballkid. Besides, it's much more interesting to talk about the quality of the music than the audio fidelity, right?
And so: This is a nice cover! I don't know the original, but I get the impression that this is stripped down a lot. I think it works well. In my head it sounds even better on an acoustic guitar.
umbú, that's a great rule. I wish I had read your comment before posting my latest song, as I qualified it a few times without even thinking about it.

Thanks umbú. This really was a drubk-off-my-ass-to-get-the-courage-to-post-to-MuFi thing ;). And I like the disclaimer rule. I'll keep it in mind.

Yeah, this sounds pretty good to me -- lo-fi, sure, but not "shitty." Especially considering you were simultaneously drunk and drubk.

This sounds like the kind of song that sounds better recorded like this. The lofiness gives it an unbeatable intimacy and a pristine recording would only make it sound cold, I think. Very, very cool.

I used to get together with friends and share stuff we'd been working on, whether it be music, writing, or whatever. We ended up coming up with the rule of "only one disclaimer allowed," which I always thought was a good one. Your stuff is almost always more imperfect to you than to others.
