In the Smoking Section
July 8, 2006 8:52 PM
Exhausted, on an all-too-brief lunchbreak this past Friday, I was smoking a cigarette, watching an ant cart around a dragonfly corpse. And I thought, "Damn. It's a good thing they aren't big enough to carry cigarettes. And that they don't smoke."

"...because I'm a big ass ant...with a smoking problem..."
Priceless. I like the noisy ukulele - I doubt ants have very good recording set ups anyway :)

Sounds really old, in a cool way. I rather like the noise in it.

I like the noise too for the same reason as edlundart. It makes it sound like an old recording which adds to it.

Something very O Superman going on here. The I-iii chords, the curious, precise annunciations, the full-chord vocal harmonies...
Excellent stuff.

Ah! It is the defining Laurie Anderson recording. Brilliant, brilliant stuff. Off her debut album, "Big Science", which was based on a performance art things she'd been doing at the beginning of the 80s.
