Nude (Radiohead cover)

November 13, 2008 2:20 AM

I was surprised to find I'd never posted this to MeFi Music. Yet another Radiohead cover by me and my friend Mel. On MySpace we are Minor Vine.

Recorded by Ryan York in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with a Hohner-Gruhn acoustic guitar.

I've never heard the original, so I can't compare it to that, but your version is gorgeous.

Love the original, love your cover. Beautiful.

I knew right away I would love this. I'm not a huge orchestral strings fan, so I love the replacement of the strings with these two great voices. I also agree with the shortening of the song. Wonderful. I love the second 'oooo' at about 2:35.

This is just gorgeous.

I totally adore this and I would kill to hear it done exactly the same but without the guitar. Your voices make the Hohner-Gruhn superfluous, which isn't a small feat.

This is a very beautiful rendition, your voices are wonderful. I think isopraxis' point in hearing it without the guitar might be more an issue with the mixing than whether or not the Hohner-Gruhn is superfluous. The three tracks maybe can be unified with some very subtle wide-panning reverb? Maybe just a virtually unnoticeable touch of "swirliness" in it. This might coalesce the guitar and your two respective voices more. But that's just a slight suggestion of production, and in no way denies the talent that went into this cover. It's a tough one as well, and you did the song justice and more.

I just thought I would add that I like the geetar in this song. I would maybe suggest adding a couple more tracks at certain points to fill it out.
