Take a Chance on Me

I love different cover songs, so tried to make a tragic love song out of an old Scandinavian disco song. I think maybe all ABBA songs are tragic beneath their shiny sequinned disco pants. It starts quiet, builds up and ends up quiet again.

I love cover songs! Fun interpretation, well executed, not as tragic as maybe intended, but definitely melancholic. More!

You have a stunningly good voice. Nice take on the song.

Nice.

Whenever I hear this song, I remember a very specific day. I was nine years old and over at my neighbor Tony's house. He had the 45 of take a chance on me, and we put it on repeat, listening to it over and over and over while playing intellivision baseball and reading penthouse forums that Tony fished out of a dumpster.

Wow, you do have a great voice.
You lost me at the bridge when all the fake instruments and overdubbing came in. I have a big aversion to fake cello, especially, for some reason.
But just you with the acoustic is really powerful; look forward to hearing more.

I dig it, especially at 1:30 when the other voices first come in.

I like fake cello but I can see chococat's point of view. The drums are "tasteful" but also kinda "safe" -- I'd like the drums to be more interesting -- by which I probably mean "more messed up" -- but I have been lately developing some very specific thoughts on this so you may want to apply grains of salt as necessary.

But yeah, this is pretty boss.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm just really pleased people listened to it! I'll post up an original song just now too.

I know what you mean chococat, I've been doing the song just me and the guitar for a while and when I went to record it I wanted to make it kind of go melancholy->hopeful->melancholy and do something more. I have a version of it without backing somewhere and may try and record that properly too just me and the guitar.
