Marriage song

The news of old flame's pending nuptials had me, unexpectedly, floored.

A recent AskMe post reminded me of this song-doodle from a while ago. It was an attempt at processing just that...unsettling something.

There is something about the way this is recorded, with the scratchy noises going on etc, that's quite captivating. The vocal sounds really... genuine and thoughtful. I like the basic melody quite a bit. Would be great if it had a second part, for variation. and/or an overdub for the "in the summer you'll be wed" part.

I think you hit that wistful feeling on the head. Perfect.

edlundart: thanks, I was improvising so the pensive mood was pretty much where my head was at (there was a cat at my feet - the scratchy sound is her!). I tried re-recording but the mood was lost a bit. I like your idea about the overdub, I might give it a go. It could do with one less chorus.

Corduroy: Cheers! My songs tend to be more impressionistic sketches than full-blown finished numbers, but I never know if what I'm hearing translates to other ears.

Your song is a great illustration of why some things should never be full-blown productions!

Thanks for posting this.

Are you secretly the vocalist from Bat for Lashes?

Meant as a compliment.
