My girlfriend was having a bad day, so in about an hour, I wrote and recorded a song in an attempt to cheer her up. Why not share it?

Wow, that's pretty darn sweet. How do you record something like this? Bass part first? Do you write out the progression?

I wrote the lyrics and melody at work, so with the progression in my head, I was able to get sing a decent bassline within a couple takes. It wasn't until recording it that I decided I should add the background vocal parts, to make it more of a barbershop-type song. I didn't really write anything out, but that's because it's a minute long, and I worked it out as I went. If I had stopped to actually write it out, recording would have taken ten minutes (and not an hour)...
