Saturday's Lament

A goofy little 30-second vignette.

I found a guitar-and-vocal demo of this kicking around and decided to finish it. There was supposed to be a whole song, but I don't really think it needs it.

The only goofy thing about this is that it only lasts 30 seconds.... I was just getting into it and it fucking finished! Finish it ozzy - trust me, it''ll be well worth it. Great sound by the way. The "Now I'm too drunk to fuck you" chorus would benefit well from being double-tracked I think. Arrangement-wise I'd just repeat this thing twice (you should repeat the chorus though - it'd stand it), slot in a middle eight, do a stripped back quiter chorus (i.e. just vocal, drums and bass maybe - a chanted "too drunk to fuck you": going from a whisper to a scream (as it were)), then slam into a screamy/twangly geetar solo for a few bars (using the intro chords as backing perhaps), back to the second bit of the verse ("want a couple of cold ones") and then out on 2 or 3 chorus repeats, finishing on a full stop i.e. no fade. Piece of piss mate. Get on with it!

I am pleased to report that there are now TWO songs that feature the "whiskeydick" tag.

Wow, that is pretty short. Starts strong, but I guess you couldn't keep it up.

Dundee's suggestions are alright, but you might have a problem slotting in that middle eight.

huh huh

Dawson's Crunk?

And actually, Dundee, I worked this through for an acquaintance whose podcast needs a number of short, topical pieces for transitions (one of the upcoming topics is "drugs and alcohol"). That's not to say that I won't flesh it out someday, but it makes it somewhat unlikely.

Plus, I'd have to write more lyrics.

Ah yes....lyrics.....tricky blighters....'nuff said... Seriously, ozzy, that was just an off-the-cuff suggeston in case you were thinking about expanding it. It's cool as it is.

For what it's worth, this is the mix that ought to eventually appear in the podcast. It's not as punchy, but the vocals are way, way up, which was the reason for the remix.
