Whatever You Give (I'll Take from You)

September 13, 2010 11:53 AM

I always know the tricks you play, but I still get taken. Another poppy (and slightly ominous) uke tune. Hope you like it!

Lyrics:

I always know
The tricks you play
But I still get taken
Like a country buffoon
In a city saloon.

And I smile my ignorant smile
And you know I just don't mind
Whatever you give I'll take from you.

I'd like to drive
Into the desert
And dig my way out
Spoon by spoon
And speck by speck

When they found my powdered bones
They will know I wasn't alone
Whatever you give I'll take from you.

This is great. I have a weakness for your sorts of melodies. The tension between the sweet melody and the creepy lyrics works really well.

Love your uke tunes! I can see the Paul McCartney/Beatle influences, and it's rare to find stuff in that vein that I like as much. I like your harmonies as well, and your George Martin like craftmanship with production- like bringing in the bass line a bit later in the tune. Good job!

Really nice, just listened through your other songs as well and enjoyed them all.
