Looking Down The Barrel of The World Famous & Hoopo

January 30, 2011 4:57 PM

A remix of "Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun" by the Beastie Boys for the January collaboration music challenge, by myself and The World Famous

My part was the drum loops and the samples and a bit of arranging/mixing, The World Famous wrote the melody and played guitar, bass, and organ.

This was a blast to work on and it was really cool to share creative roles with someone with a vision that is both very different from that of my usual collaborators and right in line with so much music that I love. Thanks, Hoopo!

Now, where are all the other MeFiMusic collaborations?!?

Same here, World Famous - it's not often a self-taught amateur like me that deals in samples and loops and cheap software gets to sit at the grown-ups table with proper good-at-playing-actual instruments-and-composing musicians. Thanks to you, and also snsranch for organizing the whole thing. It was a lot of fun and I'd do this again in a heartbeat.

This feels exactly like the kind of remix they would've done at the time. Killer. Dave Scilken would be proud, lads.

Love this song, great version. The squeal of that guitar is perfect.
